Giganotosaurus is one of the largest Theropods that we know of. It was estimated to be between 12‒14 m long, weighing around 7‒8 tons. The skull was relatively slender and prolonged and could exceed 1,6‒1,7 m in the largest specimens. The front arms, which have larger claws, are significantly shorter than the hind pair, a characteristic typical of the family. The markedly higher spines of vertebrae are developed in the pectoral part of the ridge. Giganotosaurus was a top predator and it lived 100 Ma (97 Ma) in present-day Argentina. ## Keywords Mesozoic, Cretaceous, dinosaurs, Theropoda, Carcharodontosauridae
