Cretoxyrhina is one of the largest Mesozoic sharks. It belongs to the group of modern neoselachian sharks with a length exceeding 7 meters and a cartilaginous skeleton. Their jaws possessed more than 250 knife-like teeth. The length of the teeth was up to 7 cm. Cretoxyrhina inhabited the Upper Cretaceous (98‒82 Ma) epicontinental seas of Europe and North America.
