Description

A force is a vector. When vectors are drawn into free body diagrams, the magnitude and direction are usually given in one of two formats. Overall magnitude and angles to indicate direction or magnitudes in each of the coordinate directions (component form). In either format, three values are needed to completely define a force vector in a 3D system. A magnitude and two angles or a magnitude in each of the three coordinate axes.
