Bimetallic strip is composed of two metals with different thermal expansion. Metals are joined together by pressing. Since each metal has a different thermal expansion, different expansion of metals occurs during the heating or cooling. Metal, which expands more in the case of heating, overprints the metal with smaller expansion and therefore, the whole strip is bending.
