Pressure

The pressure (P) is a physical quantity expressing the relationship between the force (F), which acts on the body, and the surface (S) on which the force acts.

All three characters have the same weight and has the same gravitational effect - the pressure force (F) is perpendicular to the layer of snow. The pressure force (F) of the characters is carried over different areas of snow (S). The ski has the largest area (S1), snowshoes' surface (S2) is smaller, and the smallest is the area of ​​the soles (S3).

The greatest deformation of snow and the greatest pressure is done by the character with the shoes. Conversely, the figure with skis deform the snow the least because the pressure is the smallest.
