Description

The Wimshurst machine produces sparks by means of electrostatic induction. This machine was invented by James Wimshurst. It is a device that uses electrostatic induction to produce an electric potential between two electrodes. The machine has two parallel insulating discs revolving in different directions, each being in contact with a thin metal wiper that produces a charge on the disc. It is usually used for demonstration purposes.
