Refraction by Converging Lens

Description

When a ray of light hits the boundary between the air and the front side of the converging lens, the inward refraction (towards k₁) occurs because of the air - glass interface.

On the other side of the lens the refracton is in ouward direction (away from k₂), because of the opposite interface of the glass ‒ air.

Because the refraction is determined by the angle of refraction, which is related to perpendicular axis of impact, the rays refract on the converging lens towards the optical axis.
