Description

The ***torque wrench** allows accurate torque to be adhered to by the measuring device or an interruption in tightening*. The torque wrench is designed on the principle of a **flexible torsion bar** coupled with a **tightening head**; a pointer attached to the torsion bar shows the current moment of force (torque).

Moment of force *M* is the **physical magnitude**. The unit is a **newton-meter (Nm)**. Moment of force is defined as the product of the force ***F*** and the perpendicular distance of the **axis *a*** of force from the given point. Thus, the magnitude of the moment of force depends on the magnitude of the force and the distance from the axis of rotation (the longer the greater the moment of force).
