PC ‒ Components

Computers are composed of two fundamental parts: hardware and software. Hardware is made of the electronic parts of the computer. Most of these components are located in the computer case. Inside this computer case we can find parts as the motherboard containing the microprocessor, the RAM, expansion cards and external devices. The motherboard controls the functions of different components. The most important of these components is the central processing unit (CPU), or microprocessor, which acts as the brain of the computer. The number of connection slots for peripheral devices and the number and type of memory slots are important properties of the motherboard. Computers usually have one or more disk drives. They are devices which store information on a metal or plastic disk. A hard disk drive (HDD), is a device used for storing and retrieving data. It consists of one or more rotating disks (platters) covered with magnetic material. All the other parts including the monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, and others join at the unit to become a functional system.

The essential part inside the computer case is also a power supply. It supplies the correct amount of electric energy to the different parts of the computer.
