Description

Albert Michelson measured the speed of light in 1926. We are introducing a technique similar to that he used. Michelson used an eight-sided mirror rotating in place of the toothed wheel, as illustrated by the model. The distance from the rotating mirror to the distant reflector was 35.5 km. The light completed the 71.0 km round trip in the time it took the mirror to complete one-eighth of a revolution. From the distance to the fixed mirror and required angular speed is possible to calculate the speed of light which is about 3.00 x 10^8 m/s.
