Description

By turning the handle, the current that is produced can be seen as it lights the lamp. The quicker the handle is turned the brighter the light. This model represents AC generator and it demonstrates how alternating current (AC) power is generated through electromagnetic induction. If a wheel rotates that turns a wire coil in a strong magnetic field created by two magnets. This creates an electric current in the coil that flows into a small circuit. The current can flow in either alternating or direct current with the use of a commutator. The AC motor generator has a second set of brushes sliding on two continuous rings known as slip rings. Each ring is connected to one end of the armature winding. By connecting to the slip ring brushes instead of the commutator brushes the generator provides AC.
