Description

A **hand pump** is manually operated pump. *It uses human power and mechanical advantage to move fluids and air from one place to another*. They are widely used in every country in the world for a variety of activities. There are many different types of suction-pump.

In a suction pump, the **pump cylinder** and **pump valves** are above ground in the **pump head**. *Repeated strokes of the pump handle gradually sucks water up the riser main and into the cylinder and out the spout*. A valve system is articulated to create a **depression** in one compartment or an **overpressure** in another. To increase the flow, the movement back and forth may be provided by hand or by a motor.
