Description

Simple machines are devices that transfer power and mechanical movement from one body to another. In doing so, they can change the direction of the force, transmit its scope and extend its magnitude.

The body on which a force is applied by a simple machine is called a weight.

The wheel on the shaft is a continuously operating double-acting lever, arms of which form radius of the shaft r₂ and radius of the wheel r₁.

Windlass is from a physical point of view a combination of a lever and a wheel on a shaft.
