Formation of Covalent Bond within Fluorine Molecule

by Corinth

Description

If fluorine atoms are sufficiently close to each other, chemical bonding occurs. When a fluorine molecule is formed (F₂), two electrons are shared equally by both fluorine atoms (schematically depicted on the model). This type of chemical bond is called a single covalent bond.
