**Information:** Perchloric acid is one of the strongest acids. When highly concentrated it forms an extremely strong oxidizing agent. In contact with organic materials it decomposes explosively.

**Use:** It is used for the permanent decomposition of organic polymers (polystyrene, PVC). Its salt (perchlorate) is a component of pyrotechnic mixtures.
