Tetragonal Prism

by STEAM3D

Description

A tetragonal prism (6-faced form) exhibits several elements of symmetry, including a center of symmetry, five mirror planes, one 4-fold rotation axis, and four 2-fold rotation axes. Three of the mirror planes, along with two 2-fold and one 4-fold rotation axis, are perpendicular to each other and align along the crystallographic axes a₁, a₂ and c. The remaining two mirror planes and 2-fold rotation axis run diagonally across the prism. All planes and rotation axes intersect at the center of the crystal, where the center of symmetry is located. The tetragonal prism is a characteristic crystal form within the tetragonal crystal system.
