Description

**Sphalerite (ZnS)** is the most important ore of zinc with typically brown, yellow, red, green or black colour. It is usually associated with galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, calcite, dolomite and fluorite.

**Pyrite (FeSâ‚‚)** is a very common mineral and important ore of iron. It is also known as a fool's gold due to its pale brass-yellow hue colour. Pyrite is usually associated with other sulfides or oxides in quartz veins, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, as well as in coal beds.

**Galena (PbS)** is the most important ore of lead and silver with lead gray and silvery colour. Galena shows often cubic and octahedral forms and is often associated with the minerals sphalerite, pyrite, calcite, quartz or fluorite.
