As a city on three rivers, Passau is prone to flooding. The floods in June 2024 featured the highest water levels since 2013's "flood of the century", with waters reaching up to entrances of riverfront buildings in the old town and flooding low-lying streets. Across Bavaria, a handful of people died as a result of the Danube's fooding.
