Develop confident conversational skills in a range of practical environments – from job interviews to negotiations – using AI-powered feedback. Take part in over 35 scenario-based settings with AI avatars. Each interaction uses natural conversation flow, encouraging students to think independently and rehearse professional communication across various roles. Students can track progress, reflect on performance, and build workplace readiness with real-time feedback. Language support and customizable scenarios make the experience flexible for learners and individual training needs. **Key Features:** - Includes over 35 scenarios, including multi-panel avatar interviews, debating skills and customer service - Add custom role-play scenarios aligned with targeted learning objectives - Personalize learning by uploading target interview questions - Choose bespoke scenarios, including learning to communicate with different personality types - Receive AI-powered feedback with additional guidance and performance insights ## Content Overview: Role Play studio includes over 35 scenarios. Users can choose between three general environments or four bespoke environments. Select the role-play type, and then choose from a selection of specific scenarios, including university interviews, negotiating a pay rise, or having difficult managerial conversations. ## Duration & Guidance: Each practice exercise is approximately 15 minutes in duration, but the time may vary depending on the user. Additionally, scenarios include guidance on whether to complete the training seated or standing. # TEACHING FRAMEWORK {.objective .objective} Throughout this experience, ask students to maintain a “**Communication Journal.”** This journal can be a small notebook, a stapled packet, a digital document or use the worksheet provided (see exemplar for further guidance). # Before the Experience **Initial Thoughts** Encourage self-awareness and critical thinking by having students respond to the following prompts in their journal before beginning any of the VR experiences. This reflection sets the stage for intentional practice and personal growth. - Think about a time when you had to explain something important, respond to a difficult situation or speak up. What went well? How did you feel? What was challenging about it?{.task} - When having any conversation, are you more comfortable leading, listening or a balance of both? Why do you think that is?{.task} - When a conversation becomes uncomfortable or tense, how do you typically respond?{.task} - When it comes to verbal and nonverbal communication skills, where do you see the biggest room for improvement in yourself?{.task} **Action Plan** Before students begin the role-play with the AI Avatars, ask them to create an individualized Action Plan that will guide their learning. By making choices about their presentation environment, topic and use of notes, students can tailor the experience to their skill level and areas for growth. You can allow students freedom of choice or provide structure by giving specific requirements. Provide a checklist of options for students to select from: - Scenarios – Decide how many scenarios students should role-play by setting a specific amount or allowing flexibility. Encourage students to include at least one session that is personally challenging for them. - Role-Play – Choose the type of role-play. Encourage students to focus on two to three types they feel are relevant, interesting or challenging. - Conversation – Choose the type of conversation to have. Ask students to revisit their Initial Thoughts and identify where they may find the most growth. # During the Experience **Real-Time Reflections** To support engagement and reinforce learning during each VR session, ask students to create an entry in their journal each time they complete a presentation. - *Focus – Today, I participated in a role-play in the \_\_\_ environment, focusing on a \_\_\_ conversation (e.g., interview, customer service).* - *Insight – One thing that challenged me during the conversation was \_\_\_. One thing I handled better than expected was \_\_\_.* - *Technique – I used this strategy: \_\_\_ (e.g., active listening, staying calm, asking clarifying questions) to respond to \_\_\_.* - *Feeling – I felt \_\_\_ before the conversation and \_\_\_ afterward.* # After the Experience **What I Learned** To follow up, ask students to respond to the following prompts in their journal. - How has your confidence changed since beginning the role-play sessions?{.task} - Which role-play scenario felt the most comfortable for you? Why?{.task} - Which scenario challenged you the most, and what adjustments did you make? Why?{.task} # Extended Learning **Final Role-Play Challenge** Students should prepare and deliver a final role-play in a scenario of their choice or one that aligns with your instructional goals. The conversation should demonstrate the communication skills that have been learned, such as active listening, emotional control, persuasion or professionalism. Select a scenario or role-play type – either an environment the student finds challenging or meaningful, or a consistent scenario for all students. Students will use the built-in recording options to record their presentations. Encourage a few practice runs before recording. To assess, use a rubric or checklist, providing students with individual feedback. Optionally, ask students to watch their own recording and self-assess using the same rubric or checklist. # How To View Student Analytics 1. Log into VirtualSpeech website 1. Results can be viewed under 'User Analytics' by searching for the student by name
