The coconut is a large palm tree seed, with a tough outer case. inside is a fleshy seed, that is follow and filled with water. Being hollow makes it float on water, as it relies on it to be carried and dispersed away from the tree it fell rom. The water helps with the early stage of germination, while the plantlet establishes roots in the ground.
