Description

Brown boobies are striking coastal birds found in warm, tropical regions. They are known to make it as far as temperate coastlines from time to time. Recognizable by their dark brown plumage, white underparts, and bright blue beaks (as adults), they are excellent divers and skilled at hunting fish. Brown boobies often nest on rocky islands or cliffs, where they lay their eggs in shallow scrapes on the ground. They spend much of their time soaring over the ocean or diving into the water to catch their prey. These birds are an important part of coastal ecosystems, helping control fish populations and contributing to the biodiversity of their habitats.
