Description

Mojave Desert National Preserve in Southern California is a home to sand dunes, cinder cone volcanoes, and rugged mountains. It has a rich history; the Chemehuevi people once lived on prickly pear, roasted agave blooms and hunted deer and bighorn sheep, and in more recent history the Mojave has seen mining, homesteads, railroads and exploration, with a University Desert Studies Center located in this area today.
