The world today is filled with computers of all shapes and sizes; however, this was not always the case. In the 1970s and 80s computers were gradually becoming more popular for businesses, but most work was still done by hand and filed away on paper. But with the introduction of the IBM PC in 1981, computers very quickly became available for home use, starting the journey to where we are today.
Many of the design principles of this computer still apply to a desktop or laptop you might use at home or school – but things have moved on a bit! Let’s find out what’s inside this PC.

In this section, the input and output are described. Input is typically a means of putting data into the computer or giving it instructions, such as the keyboard and mouse. The output is the completion of a process and being able to see it, which is usually seen on a monitor.
