This scene is a recreation of several important locations and moments from the life of Mary Seacole. the scene begins on an island in Jamaica, where Mary began her career. From here you can cross onto the ship that took Mary from Jamaica to the Crimean war; on board you will find several artefacts that show her journey and the conditions she endured. finally you can cross into a recreation of a medical Hut on the front of the Crimean War and find out how Marys work affected the soldiers there.

# Mary Seacole's Early Life {.objective .objective1}

The scene begins on a small island representing Mary’ Seacole’s early career. This section looks at how Mary learned medical skills from an early age with the help of her mother as well as some of the techniques she learned while living in Jamaica. The task in this section asks students to look for evidence have Mary's treatments while she lived in Jamaica


# Mary Seacole's work in the Crimean War{.objective .objective2}

Section two focuses on Mary's work in the Crimean war, including the British hotel - a hospital she helped to set up. Students can see the battlefield in the distance and learn how Mary's work helped the soldiers on the front. The task in this section focuses on Mary's work with the soldiers and how she won their respect.


# Mary Seacole's life in Britain {.objective .objective3}

The final part of this scene looks at Mary's return to Britain and how she was treated once she returned. Students will learn how people raised money to help her and how she was able to eventually publish her autobiography. The task here asks students to look at the entirety of the scene and consider whether they believe Mary Seacole was remembered correctly.
