The Ottoman Empire

The Ottoman Empire was one of the largest Empires in History. In the late thirteenth century, Osmal I, a tribal warlord conquered lands in Antolia (modern-day Turkey) that belonged to the Byzantine Empire. With these regions under control, he established the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire grew significantly over time and at its peak, stretched from Turkey, to Romania, across to Jordan, Syria and much of the coastal strip of North Africa. This scene will take the form of a street in Constantinople that students can explore to discover what life was like during The Ottoman Empire.

# Who ruled the Ottoman Empire?{.objective .objective1}

In this section students can learn about 7 Sultans who ruled over the empire. In this section students are asked to identify the map which shows how far the distance of the ottoman Empire stretched.

# What was Art, Science and Medicine like in the Ottoman Empire? {.objective .objective2}

In this section students can learn about the importance of Art, Science and Medicine in the empire. In this section students are asked to identify key buildings and inventions of the Ottoman Empire.

# How did the Ottoman Empire come to an end? {.objective .objective3}

In this section students can learn about the factors which contributed to the downfall of the empire. In this section students are asked to describe the life of someone who lived in the Ottoman Empire and consider what jobs might have existed.
