The scene lets students explore the 1945 British street and observe the celebrations surrounding the end of World Was two in Europe. The scene will show the document signed by the German commanders for the unconditional surrender of the German forces. Most of all the celebrations that followed as the end of the war brought and end to the hardship of the war.

# The Surrender {.objective .objective1}
Students will learn about the reasons for the surrender of the German forces in Europe in 1945. They will learn that Allied countries were pushing German forces back and the imminent loss of the war led to Hitler’s death. As such, the commander and newly appointed German president began negotiating the surrender of the German forces in Europe.
# The News {.objective .objective2}
Students will be asked to explore the scene and observe how the public received the news of the end of the European war. They will learn how the news was able to spread quickly due to radio broadcasts
# Celebrations {.objective .objective3}
Students will learn that after years of hardship, the dangers of war and rationing for food, The European population had cause to celebrate as the hardship was coming to an end. They will learn about the public celebrated and the national holiday, VE Day was marked on the 8th of May. Students will be asked to explore the scene and observe how the public celebrated. They will be asked to look for clues that a special celebration took place upon the announcement of VE Day.
