Petra

Petra, otherwise known as the Rose City, is an area of hand-hewn caves, temples and tombs carved from sandstone in the high desert of Jordan. There are over 800 buildings in Petra along with a unique water system which was created to provide enough water for 30,000 people in the desert. Students can visit a reconstructed version of a part of Petra and learn about Petras location, why it was abandoned and why it is one of the new seven wonders of the world.
