The Mongol Empire of the thirteenth and fourteenth century is known as the largest land empire in history. Beginning in present day Mongolia, the Mongol Empire stretched from the seas of Japan to parts of eastern Europe, extending northward into parts of the artic and southward into parts of the Indian subcontinent. In this scene, explore the Plains before and during the Mongol Empire and learn about the importance of Genghis Khan.

Students can learn that Genghis Khan was the leader of the Mongol Empire. Walking across the Plains,s tuednts can learn about Khan’s childhood and how he and other Khans lived.
# How did the Mongol Empire originate? {.objective .objective2}
Walking around the scene, students can learn about the rapid expansion of the Mongol Empire and the different dynasties Genghis Khan fought against. Students should be able to identify the weaponary used by multiple sides in battle.
# How did the Mongol Empire collapse?{.objective .objective3}
Students can learn about the different factords which brought the empire to an end, including the struggles over the succession of the empire. Students can observe why the empire was able to expand so much and the reasons as to why it fell.
