The scene lets students explore and learn about the life and work of Marie Curie. By exploring the scene and observing various models and items, such as, Radium, Polonium, an electrometer, and a mobile X-ray machine, students will learn about the importance of Curie’s research into radiation, and its application in medicine.

# Marie Curie’s Discoveries {.objective .objective1}
Students will learn about Marie Curie, the work she carried out on radiation, and the discovery of radioactive material.
Students will be asked to explore the scene and observe the radioactive material. They will be asked to identify that radiation is being emitted and the type of radiation too.
# The Significance {.objective .objective2}
Students will learn about the significance of Curie’s research. They will learn that her work in researching radioactive substances led to the isolation and discovery of two new elements: Radium and Polonium.
Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify that the particles emitted are alpha particles.
# Medical Application {.objective .objective3}
Students will learn about how the medical applications Marie Curie developed with radiation. They will learn how she pioneered the mobile radiology service during he war, the hollow needle to sterilise soldiers’ wounds, and the treatment of neoplasm.
Students will be asked to explore the scene and look for clues suggesting Curie’s work in radiology and the Red Cross.
