Nirvana Day is a Buddhist festival that is celebrated each year. Buddhists remember the death of the Buddha and how he reached Nirvana and became enlightened at eighty years old. In this scene students can walk along the footsteps of the Buddha and explore how he became enlightened! # Learning objectives 1: Understand who the Buddha was {.info} 2: Understand the importance of Nirvana Day for Buddhists {.info} # What are the Four Holy Noble Truths? {.objective .objective1} In this section students can learn that the Four noble truths discuss how life involves suffering, and that Buddhists should follow the Eight-Fold Path to be able to end their suffering. In this scene students are asked to explore and identify diverse types of suffering and consider how each example was caused. # What is the Eight-Fold Path? {.objective .objective2} In this section students can learn each step of the eightfold path and how an Individual can achieve enlightenment. In this scene students are asked to enter the scene and consider how easy difficult it is for a Buddhist to follow the path. # How is Nirvana Day Celebrated? {.objective .objective3} In this section students can learn that some Buddhist will celebrate Nirvana Day at home, or in a Buddhist monastery.
