Distribution: Southeast Asia Wingspan: 90–100 mm Life Span: Up to one year Diet: Herbivorous Social life: Solitary IUCN red list status: No Status The great orange tip butterfly is widespread across South and Southeast Asia, extending into southern China and southern Japan. Its upper wings are bright white with a prominent orange patch on the forewings, while the underside resembles a dried leaf. This leaf-like pattern provides excellent camouflage when the butterfly rests with its wings folded, helping it evade predators. Males often spend extended periods resting on the ground but occasionally take flight to patrol back and forth in search of females. Both males and females frequently visit flowers, showing a preference for bushy plants. Notably, the Great Orange Tip's wings contain a toxic venom that acts as a defense mechanism against predators.
