**Structure of the Eye** The eye is a spherical organ divided into anterior and posterior chambers. Its wall consists of three primary layers: the fibrous tunic, vascular tunic and neural tunic. Within the neural tunic lies the retina, which contains three cell layers separated by two synaptic layers. At the center of the retina is a small indentation called the fovea. *LICENSES AND ATTRIBUTIONS CC licensed content, Shared previously, Stephanie Fretham, Sensory Perception, Authored by: OpenStax College.
