Meadow Buttercup ‒ Flower

by STEAM3D

Description

The meadow buttercup is native to most of Europe and has also been introduced to North America. It typically grows in moist grassy areas. The leaves are divided into 3–5 segments. Its flowers consist of five separate green sepals, five distinct glossy yellow petals, and numerous spirally arranged stamens and pistils, which develop into achenes after pollination. Like many other plants in its family, the buttercup is poisonous and can cause dermatitis or vomiting. Its bitter taste generally deters livestock from consuming it. ## Keywords angiosperms plants eudicots Ranunculales Buttercups buttercup
