The common daisy is a perrenial belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is found in grasses, pastures and meadows. It grows 5–10 cm (2‒4 inches) high and its spoon-shaped leaves create a rosette above the ground. Young leaves can be eaten in salads. The flower heads (inflorescences) grow individually on stems. The outer white ray flowers lack stamens while the inner yellow disc flowers are hermaphrodite. There are cultivars of the common daisy with larger flower heads of various colors (white, pink, red).
