Egyptian Anubis Statue

by ClassVR

Description

Anubis was a symbol of protection and guardianship, particularly over the dead. Statues of Anubis were commonly placed in tombs and burial sites to ensure that the dead were safe and to oversee the embalming process. In contrast to the common association of gods of the dead with evil in many world mythologies, the ancient Egyptians regarded Anubis as a positive figure. The jackal-headed god was also linked to the weighing of the heart ceremony, a critical judgment that determined whether a soul was good enough to enter the afterlife.
