Description

This is a 360 view of Capitol Hill, Washington. The dark rectangle is one of the skylights for the Capitol Visitor Centre, which is located underneath the plaza you see in this panorama. The time for this picture is about 7 in the morning on a Saturday and the only people around are the guards and joggers.

The history of the United States Capitol Building begins in 1793. Since then, the U.S. Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended and restored. The United States Capitol is among the most symbolically important and architecturally impressive buildings in the nation. It has housed the meeting chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for two centuries.
