Explorable Scenes: London Blitz
This Explorable Scene takes you into a London Underground station during the Second World War. The heavy and frequent bombing attacks on London and other cities was known as the 'Blitz'. Night after night, from September 1940 until May 1941, German bombers attacked British cities, ports and industrial areas. Many people in London sought shelter deep underground, such as Underground stations like this one, where you can see posters and flyers from the time and see people trying to get comfortable to rest through the night.
This supporting document provides three focus points, which teachers may want to use to scaffold and guide their students through this experience. The second page outlines how teachers can use this explorable scene in history, art and design, design and technology, and music.
