This scene takes place on a section of beach with several Viking long ships in the process of landing. the ships are adorned with Viking decoration and Shields, and there are several Viking artefacts on the beach. students will also be able to see fires burning on the beach where the Vikings have landed and a burning building on the hilltop indicating that the raid may have begun.

# Seafarers {.objective .objective1}
The first section of this scene asks students to look specifically at the Viking long ships, how they may have been controlled and what clues they give about Viking culture.
# Skilled Craftspeople {.objective .objective2}
Section two looks more closely at the craftsmanship of the Vikings, focusing on some of the artefacts left on the beach including Shields, brooches, clothing and bowls. All the artefacts in this section are based on 3D scans of genuine Viking artefacts. The task for Section 2 asks students do you think about what materials have been used, decorative features included and what these artefacts tell us about the Viking way of life.
# Invaders and Settlers {.objective .objective3}
Section three details more closely how the Vikings earned their fearsome reputation as Raiders and pillages. Using evidence found in the scene students are asked to explore and draw conclusions about why the Vikings have landed on this beach.
