Stone Age Humans

This scene takes place in a reconstruction of Stone Age Europe, with features that are believed to have been commonplace in this era. there is a small cave with animal paintings and a fire outside as well as several artefacts from the era including weapons, clothing, preparation area for animal skins and a skull from a Sabre-toothed tiger. there are two figures in the scene, one seated by the fire showing how our ancestors used fire for warmth and another wielding a spear hunting a large mammoth.

The scene contains:

- Cave paintings showing hunting scenes
- A woman kneeling by a fire with some basic tools and a sabretooth cat skull
- A sabretooth cat in the hills and a mammoth being hunted by a stone age man

# Hunting and Gathering {.objective .objective1}

This section looks at how humans have evolved to hunt and gather their food. There is also an embedded 3D model of a Stone Age hand axe for students to explore. The student task looks at the tools and methods our ancestors used to hunt and eat.

# Stone Age Dangers {.objective .objective2}

This section discuss is how dangerous life would have been for Stone Age humans. The student task looks at finding things in the scene that could potentially be dangerous and how our lives are different to those of Stone Age humans.

# Art and Communication {.objective .objective3}

This section focuses on the cave paintings and explains how our ancestors could not read or write. Examples are discussed of cave paintings from around the world and their similarities. Student task looks at exploring the paintings inside The Cave and thinking about how it was created as well as what it might be depicting.
